glenatronSaturday night went pretty well- we played alright; the audience enjoyed it but we sounded poor to us and we were a bit rusty as we've not practiced in a while. Four of us had a long band meeting on Sunday before rehearsal that ended up with the decision that we were going to have to part company with Charlie, our piano player. He is a fantasticly nice bloke, a brilliant musician and he has the voice of an angel but he has reached a point where he doesn't really to have the time or the will to put as much effort into the adventures of Sequoia as the rest of us. He wasn't going to be able to make any practices for the next month or so and only going to be able to do a couple of the gigs we've got lined up. It was a brutally hard decision to make but it's been in the air for a while and as these things go I think the rest of us feel better for it. I hope he stays in touch and I would love to hear him play solo. In the meantime, if anyone knows a good keyboard player in this area looking to join the best band in the south-east you know what to do...
Today I nearly bought the new album by The Tears, which sounds a lot like the original Suede line up but with 10 years more experience and maturity under their songwriting belt. That means it's kind of shed a lot of the more annoying things that kept the Suede albums from greatness and may just be the record Anderson and Butler always threatened to make. I say I nearly bought it because I picked it up in the supermarket when I was buying lunch supplies and took it to the checkout where the employee working there removed the tag but apparently didn't scan it, so effectively I was given a free copy by Britain's largest supermarket. That was pretty cool.
