We went off to see Motorhead and Alice Cooper in Cardiff last night. It was great fun- they are very much [livejournal.com profile] sleepsy_mouse music more than mine, but Motorhead are so ROCK that you could hear Lemmy actually wrestle every single syllable to the ground before forcing them out of his mouth and Alice is just the ultimate showman. Also I think [livejournal.com profile] sleepsy_mouse may have been more than slightly in love with Alice's guitarist, Guitaragorn. That's possibly not his real name, but it's a good description.

After the show we went and got lost in Cardiff. In fact, Google maps indicates to me that we got lost for most of the distance from Cardiff to Caerphilly. Rubbish. The increasingly small country lane and dark scary forests weren't confidence inspiring, although we were tempted to go to the single lonely farmhouse and ask if we could borrow their phone we thought better of it.

We found our way out eventually and escaped off to our hosts [livejournal.com profile] spoondog and [livejournal.com profile] spoon_doom's house only an hour later than we expected to.

This morning it was tasty breakfast in Swansea ( apparently being grownups we no longer have to go to the Uplands Diner and can justify the classy cafe two doors up) and seeing some other Swansea friends. It was awesome to see everyone and I really enjoyed myself although every time I visit there I miss it a bit, or indeed a lot, although whether it is Swansea itself or having friends living in walking distance of home and being able to meet up for breakfast and then go off to the beach or out to play in Clyne woods afterwards is probably a part of it. It's years since I went out on Gower and I think we'll have to go back for at least a day some time soon.

Also, seeing Zelda on the Wii made me realise that I will have to get myself one at some point because it's Zelda only you can flail at things. Perfect!

I would love to visit Swansea Wales sometime. I say that because it's the sister city to the one I grew up in - Swansea, IL. My parents visited twice (my youngest brother went along the second time) and I was so jealous. The Chamber of Commerce at home brought over the Men's Choir for a small tour several years ago and my mom handled the coordination and working with all the gentlemen. That's who they went to visit on their trips. From the pictures of the town and the surrounding area, Wales looks to be a beautiful country. One day I shall visit!

Not sure I'd want to see Motorhead (never got into them) but Alice Cooper would be fun. Something about seeing this leather clad rocker on the stage and knowing he's a really good golfer just amuses me. Sadly I don't get to many concerts any more. Most recent artist I saw was Jimmy Buffett. Not that I'm complaining (I like JB), but when the husband's in charge of tickets, we go see his favorite artist. I'll go see Jimmy, but no way in hell would he go see someone like Iron Maiden with me.

Sounds like it was a fun evening though. Adventure is always good and never, ever goto the lonely farmhouse on the hill with all the black birds flying around it. *wink*

I went to university there and stayed on for a few years because I had good friends and good times so I was there about six years in the end. It was a very happy time and in a some I regret moving back to this side of the country. It turned out fine, but it wasn't a smart thing to do.

If you do get the chance to visit it is well worth it- there are amazing places in all directions, Gower to the west, the Black Mountains to the North and east and... erm... the Sea to the south. Alright, three directions. And it's a great city. Not strikingly beautiful or anything, but comfortably lived in and the local accent is awesome.

Swansea sounds like an nice place. Certainly there is something to be said for friends that live within walking distance.

The Wii is awesome isn't it??? A friend of mine has one and has regular Wii parties. Much entertainment ensues whenever certain less coordinated people (yes, read...me) attempt to play tennis for long.

The killer rabbits game is pretty funny too.

Ooh! Did Alice Cooper put on a good show? I was given tickets to see them in Birmingham, but unfortunately I can't really get there (well I can: it's just a case of getting back). And as it's only Alice Cooper that I'm interested in seeing ... ah well. Glad you had a good time anyway. :)

He put on a great show!

I went up to see him in Birmingham a week ago and he was brilliant! Really really good fun, but, as you say, a bit off a bitch to get back from)

He always has such a wonderfully theatrical show, and the set list this time was great. Surprising at times - lots of older stuff, but good to hear.

And he has the most gorgeous guitarist in the whole world :)

Ahhh awesome. :) I saw him in London a couple of years ago, it was amazing. I've been a fan since I was a little kid (I actually had a crush on him, just I didn't realise what it was at that time XD).

I dunno the band members names, who's the guitarist? Got a photo? :)

Me too!

Guitarist is a guy called Jason Hook . Best picture I've found so far is here: http://www.jasonhook.net/ but he's a big tease and the page that says pics doesn't have any...

Very yummy, all Aragorn'y and unshaven and....mmmmm

If I want to play games I mostly want to play them on my PC as I have one anyway and it's good for it, but the Zelda games are special and magical and they're just pure essence of good game design. I particularly like the way they have puzzles that are really tricky so that they are challenging no matter how old you are- they tend to be think-outside-the-box type puzzles that a ten year old would find as easy to solve as I do. Also the way all the characters in them are clearly insane but they're funny and ridiculous and the whole thing is amazing.

Aside from that, I'm not keen.

It was lovely to see you guys and there's always space for you to crash here if the Gower beckons.

I would suggests a day of Sunshine, beaches, ice cream and bodyboarding next summer.
