I have a habit of buying albums, listening to them a lot for a week or two and then forgetting them. My memory seems to then tie them to the time of year I first listened to them and as that time of year approaches I go back to the records and find them somehow better than I left them. In this case I find that after having listened to it quite sparsely over the last 11 months I am now very smitten with the British Sea Power album. Last year it was a clever and interesting record - very indie, with strong hints of early 80s post punk to it. This year it has some how transformed itself into a pinnacle of almost unequalled brilliance- a magnificent album full of unique vision, powerful like the grey winter sea.

To appreciate the British Sea Power approach to the world I would strongly suggest following the link above and taking a look at some of the brilliant 1940s book cover style record artwork they have used, or the way they write to their fans or the lyrics the write. I have managed to miss them live so far, but every time I have heard them mentioned it is as an amazing live act, decorating the stage with branches, leaves and stuffed bird life. If it is better than the album I am listening to right now, it will be genuinely astounding.
