Today we began training for our Mission, which is scheduled for 1200 hours on Friday. This entailed long-reining Othello up the old road between tall beech trees and out onto the trail around the Devil's Punchbowl. It was a resounding success- Lou, walking at Othello's head, had to hang on a couple of times when he got mixed signals from me and thought he might be able to take advantage of them to turn around and make a run for home at top speed but aside from that everything worked out as well as could have been hoped for. A hopeful beginning.

We were supposed to be going to my brother's house to watch Team America today, but it turned out he had double booked us so we came home and watched House Of Flying Daggers instead, which was different but also good- perhaps the most brilliant use of colour I have ever seen in film and endlessly stylish. It was nice to think that there is a corner of ancient China that will be forever Hampshire as well, although we felt slightly conned when it turned out to have been filmed in the Ukraine.

That was what happened on the last Saturday of my twenties...

I quite agree about HoFD, and would like to count the cosutming among the brilliant parts of the film. Excellent costuming, and cinematography.

Yeah, February is a dreary month, cheered up for the few of us who have birthdays actually in February. For me, this makes the rest of the month darker/drearier. You won't miss your twenties, but soon you will begin to be more and more confused by those in their (at least early) twenties. C'est la vie, non?

The evil emperor Cosut-Ming is indeed brilliant. If disgustingly cruel.

And yay, great film. Nice and green.

Happy Birthday! I hope it passes off with all the exuberance of rolling-on-the floor-amongst-sambuca-stained-broken-glass, but maybe with less risk of floods of blood and injury and careless death. No really, I mean Happy Birthday!!!
