So, it was Christmas, then it was Boxing Day, then I had a nasty cold, then Lou had a nasty cold, then I had to take Lou to A&E (she has managed to scratch her eye, right across the pupil) and tomorrow we're back to work. What a great break.

It did have it's moments- New Year's Eve was good fun and Christmas day and Boxing day were pretty cool, but by and large we didn't get a chance to do the things we wanted to and much of the period was spent lying around pathetically with cups of lemsip.

I got a new video card for Christmas, which was good but didn't work straight off. I replaced the power supply on my PC, which is the most likely culprit for this kind of problem didn't help and everything else I have tried appears to have done nothing at all which is starting to get a bit irritating.

The title of your post is very misleading. Perhaps it was just not the right time for the holidays - or maybe they just weren't long enough. I hope L's eye is alright, will it heal alright?

It will be absolutely fine, she just has to not wear contacts and put antibiotic cream on it for a couple of days just in case, but eyes heal very fast.

I think part of the problem is that when we are not both on full-time all-out panic working mode we relax and our immune systems seem to decide to take a holiday as well...

Ah, I know exactly what you mean. Everytime I get a 'break' I come down with a cold, flu, or some other bug. I've grown to almost dislike holidays, and work through them. Well, the winter ones are the worst - I look forward to a summertime break.

But I'm glad to hear that L's eye will be alright.

I can protect your immune systems with a big stick if you like.

I'm not sure protecting them from us would help...

The getting sick when you relax ting is quite common - have you tried taking vitamins or supplements of some kind just before the holls to boost your immune systems?

How on earth did Louise scratch her eye? Give her our best wishes, sounds horrid.

We have literally no idea what she did. Absolutely no idea. I'm currently theorising that a little tiny badger climbed under her contact lense and tried to dig itself a new sett.
