Just back from supporting I Am Kloot at Reading Uni. It was absolutely amazing- we were in a decent size modern hall with proper stage (even crowd barriers!), lighting rig and sound system. I borrowed their bass rig in the end which was Ampeg (may mean something to other bass players) and sounded wonderful and once everything was going through the PA not only was the overall sound amazing but when I played my bass the entire room thrummed. It was nice to have a proper soundcheck rather than "right, all your instruments are plugged in, now piss off" which is you normally get at smaller venues. The whole setup was just really professional and I think we completely rose to the occasion playing as good a show as we ever have.
I was loving it and it was great to see the audience bobbing along to the music - at one point I noticed someone in the front row singing along to one of the songs, which was very awesome- and generally getting into it.
The headliners were really good too, so it was like getting into a gig free and then as a bonus having the opportunity to play a 45 minute set there on excellent kit. If I drank lager and wasn't driving I would probably have appreciated the free crate of beer too...
