After a long weekend
29 August 2005 22:16So we went to the Gathering and it was once again great to be a Jackal. There are lots of things that are great about being a Jackal but I particularly noticed the fact that we have really found our feet as a faction in the last year. It shows in our growing confidence and collective competence (if the Unicorns had been aware of that maybe they wouldn't have started on us) but the thing that is making it work so well is that the Jackals as a whole are a very entertaining group of people to be around. The faction monster-swap deal that saw us and the Bears monster for each other is a great success as well- it's really good fun to fight against the Bears because they're very big on heroic role-played combat rather than tappy doing-anything-for-a-hit fighting, something I hope we share. I don't know how our Fomori army worked for them but the battle against the Wsir demons was very scary indeed. We held together and we survived but for a while it didn't feel like we were going to.
It seems as though a lot happens in the faction as well- I was rarely bored in the Jackals' camp because there always seemed to be something going on and plenty of cool people to be around.
It will probably be quite strange for
bunting to be back to a life where people don't dedicate most of their time to changing songs so they are about him.
I don't really have any downsides to the weekend; with the exception of a few absences ( including some people present- Magnus was busy as voles and we hardly saw Lucy for most of the weekend ) and the vanishing of poor sickly Flabbergon the only real problem I have is that among all the music stuff I'm going to be doing for the next few months I doubt I'll be able to get to any events between here and next year's majors. That's rubbish.
