This is Iris:

Her mum is a Hanoverian/Shire cross, dad is a fancy Lusitano ( Idolo for those that know about these things ) and if she passes a vetting this week, she is going to be my new riding horse.

She's six years old and very green but also steady and sweet natured. She's got a lot to figure out, but that's something I am confident I can help with and I'm confident that she has a lot to offer too.

Pretty mare. Please excuse my weird leg position- I'm using my stirrups on a strange saddle and I didn't want to spend too much time adjusting them to a more normal length.

She looks gorgeous and such a kind eye. I didn't look at her confirmation, just overall, but she still looks a 'baby' and some of these heavier horses do take time to completely grow. I love dapple greys and she is a classic. :)

She seems really sweet natured and smart enough that I think we'll have a lot of fun together.

Well, you know I for one going to ooh and ah over an Iberian cross!

Loved your post about Zorro, too. I hope Iris can be your next partner!

There should an"am" between "one" and "going." :)

If you look at the pictures of dad, he was quite a pony.

Her breeder really knows her stuff.

Pretty and substantial looking lady, that. Good luck with the vetting.

One question though.

What's the galactic glowing green goo creeping through the plywood in the bottom photo?

I believe that's called "grass" in some universes. ;)

(Looks like a hole leading to a view of the outdoors and some virulent spring growth.)

Yeah, when I looked longer at it I figured it out... but it was a fun first impression all the same.

It was a really dark indoor arena, so the camera was making the most of any light it could find.

Yeah, right, so you want me to believe that you're not constantly assailed by mutant radioactive slime mould in Canada? I'm pretty sure that stuff gets everywhere.

No, probably too cold for it here. It would congeal in place and what's the point of being a slide mould if you can't go anywhere, right?

She is adorable and if she happens to disappear from your yard please don't check over here in Colorado, okay?

I'll make a note of that if she ever does vanish. Useful to be able to narrow things down.

Lovely girl! I love her expression. All the best with the vetting.

Thank you. I really hope she passes because I think she'd be an awesome horse to have, but I am trying to steel myself against the possibility that there are problems that show up because I really don't want to have to contend with physical issues and I'll have to be sufficiently determined and hard hearted that I need a horse I can ride.

She is- that's something one can't do much about with training so its nice to have on the start.

What a beautiful horse! And an amazing mix of breeding too, lovely. Keeping everything crossed for vetting!

I really hope it gives a definite answer one way or the other. Having one of those "should I/shouldn't I" situations would be a real nightmare.

Indeed. She'll get lighter as the years go on- in a couple of years she'll probably have the classic rocking-horse dapple, a few years beyond that and she'll be white.

I think as she greys out she will be truly stunning too.
