We played a festival in Reading today, in fact it was in Caversham, just up the road from where we used to live when we shared a flat with Shanks. It was an acoustic show and it went really well - for the first time we didn't sound lacking in the absence of piano - and we got a really good reception from the audience. Really good fun. Tomorrow we have our guest backing vocalists for the album coming in for a practice and I'm looking forward to that as well.

Having watched Episode 3 I realize there are now no big films that I have any real interest in and I started wondering about films I'd really like to see made now all those special effects and stunt performers are looking for interesting work. I can really imagine Mythago Wood, probably my favourite book, working as a film- it has a very strong story to tell and it doesn't take too long about it, both of which seem to be contributary factors to good book-to-movie transitions. I reckon there is at least one fantastic David Gemmell movie to be made as well- probably Legend - his style of storytelling is very filmic in itself and I can see something great being achieved from that base material. If any of you can think of books you could see transferring well to film lets hear them...

there is a film coming up which is apparently NOT based on Micheal Marshal Smith's 'Spares', but it damn well sounds like it. Also, i think charlie and the chocolate factory will be worth watching. After all its not worth putting the TV on until Christmas now...

Also The Sparrow should NEVER NEVER NEVER go near film producers

My god! That could only end in ultimate travesty! Imagine the feedback from the test screenings...

Not that it would, on account of mentioning god- that's not allowed in films...

The one to watch out for this year will be Strings. All the people in the world are puppets who are given life through strings from heaven. They die when the strings are cut. Beyond that it looks like it will be a big epic fantasy story and way cooler than I have described it.

There's Mirrormask coming out soon, too; it's been scripted by Neil Gaiman, which should mean it'll be fantastic. there's a few more kicking around, too, but I forget what they are as I read about them in a haze of of exhaustion on a train.

I think that the Mark Chadbourn books might work on tv, rather than film; they're a bit episodic, but very visual. I reckon Legend would probably work, too. I always pictured Sean Connery as Druss.

is the 'spares' one that thing that has Ewan Macgregor in it?
