glenatron: (Emo Zorro)

This has been a very busy and quite productive. The sun has been out and it has given us the opportunity to ride in the sunshine and get caught up on a few other things too.

On Saturday morning we took the boys out for a little circuit on the common, which was a real pleasure- they were both well behaved but after a gentle five mile circuit Small was quite tired and Zorro felt he had done plenty too. It was really nice to be out in the spring sunshine but that was plenty for them.

In the afternoon we were off to Julian's for a lesson, we're getting back into these now after a bit of a break over last autumn and winter it's good to be back riding with him. He's quoted in an article in the current issue of Horse & Hound which terms him a Dressage Trainer. I guess it's accurate but it made us smile to know that we have a Dressage Trainer.

This morning we went out for another ride in the sunshine. It was really good fun, quite short but enough for the ponies and an unquestionable pleasure to be out on the trails together again after most of a year of not being able to for one reason and another.

Now our friends who came over last week, Janet and Trev, not only decided to buy the lorry but also Janet was riding in an endurance ride just around the corner from us today so we arranged to drop the lorry off there. And so, the lorry is sold and another space appears that allows us to move things forward.

In the afternoon, [livejournal.com profile] sleepsy_mouse went to spend some quality Small Pony time, which she has been missing lately and I went dashing up the A3 to visit [livejournal.com profile] teadog1425 and her charming pony Marco. Marco is small and black and icelandic and an older gentleman, who maintains he is far too creaky for any work, until he actually starts being asked to do things when he perks up a whole lot. We did some work on the line and in the saddle, to get [livejournal.com profile] teadog1425 building more of a connection with his feet. We got some things looking a little cleaner and I think gave them both a lot to think about. While I was there I had a bit of a meeting with a gorgeous chunky fjord pony who shares their yard as well. He's a pretty cool horse but he needs a bit of clarity and a few reminders that humans are important for him to listen to because going the direction he is headed now he'll flatten someone sooner or later. Well, we got a start on it at any rate- I got him listening to me fairly quickly but I think we'll need a few sessions to get his owners effective enough to make a difference with him. I hope that opportunity comes up, it would work pretty well for everyone involved.

So yes, all in all a very productive weekend and I've enjoyed it a lot, but it's absolutely flown by.
