When we go to horsemanship clinics at Felbridge, where we just were, it's always over a weekend which means I have a very strong feeling of Sunday night about now.

The week has been amazing, a whole lot of learning and insight in the company of some wonderful people lead by an outstanding teacher. Right now I need a bit of time to order my thoughts before I write them here - it's a bit like I've thrown a bunch of different shaped blocks in the air, but I've not yet started playing Tetris.

I'm on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster- I'm sad that the week has ended, I'm full of ideas for stuff that I need to be doing with Othello but at the same time I'm seeing a whole lot of mistakes I've been making in his handling since the last clinic we were at. On average, I've done a lot of good, but I've been missing some things that seemed to me like details but actually are fundamentals.

It doesn't help that Othello, clearly feeling underappreciated after a week where Joe did all the work, decided he wasn't keen on the idea of getting into the lorry. We got him there in the end ( I made a whole bunch of mistakes because he had been so good on the way out I got complacent ) but not before he had trodden on my foot. Twice. My fault again, but annoying nonetheless. Doubly so because it was my fault through stupidity (he keeps diving off the ramp, why not stand on the side he dives off so he can run through me, rather than the other side where I can just hang on to the rope?) and it looks a lot like I am going to have an impressive double hoof-print bruise on my instep.

I think Lou and Joe have gained a huge amount from the weekend. I have too, but they were the participants this time around and the progress they made together was amazing.
