At the start of November when all the Remebrance Sunday stuff was going on I was touched by the accounts of the last veteran of the famous Christmas 1914 truce laying a wreath at one of the commemoration services and it made me think about the people who witness these iconic moments and whether there is a significance in the time they pass from living memory. Alfred Anderson died on the 21st of November.

I noticed this thanks to the less reported but still significant obituaries page from the BBC site, which also mentions that Link Wray died last month. He was one of the musicians who defined the vocabulary of the electric guitar and if you have enjoyed any rock music from the last 40 years you have felt his influence.
