Still tuesday
24 August 2004 21:51Today contains a mystery. Everything about it says that it is clearly late in the week perhaps a Thursday, a Wenesday at least. Yet someone has contrived to make it be Tuesday. I cannot see any justification for it and I don't like it.
I suppose I should appreciate the gift of time it brings, though. There is a lot to do this week in order to be ready for the Gathering- my facial prosthetic needs remaking because something in the gold paint I used has made the latex go really gacky (for future reference, it is copper-based paints that do this) and I now have to make a new mould because the old one, made from playdough went all soggy after I put the latex in it and I had to bin it. Playdough: good for one-offs.
This time I am doing it right- I have to make an impression mould to start with because my cogs largely come from mechano so I need to press them into the initial mould and have them stick out of the final result. And I don't want to latex my plasticine. My current intention is to fill the first version with candle wax and then make a plaster impression from that for latexing. I forgot to buy any candlewax when I was buying the plaster but candles were on special offer in sainsburys so I have a bunch of those ready to melt down as soon as I have my first mould. Unfortunately, due to a bit of a hash-up in the stealing mechano department, I will be hard pressed to do that before tomorrow evening, which means I am cutting things very fine for both plaster and latex drying. I guess I could always wear my repulsive and disolving prosthetic for friday night (we are determined to leave directly from work to get to the event at least close to nightfall) and leave the new one to dry in the interim...
