*shudder* We just went through five months of hell trying to find a saddle for my mare... Good luck with that. Do you have a saddle fitter in the area to give it a feel?

Feel free to tell me to bugger off, but I'm curious: what kind of saddle? What's the discipline?

The saddle is a western one, which I'll use mostly as a general sitting-on kind of saddle - for any more dressage I'll probably go back to my treeless but I'm not absolutely confident that has the structure for riding further in future. I would prefer to have something that offers a better weight distribution.

Whether I have a good chance of that with a random saddle off ebay I honestly doubt, but as far as I can tell it's a genuine if battered ranch saddle and if it does fit it can offer a good stopgap while I look for a more long-term proposition...

Mmm, western, good choice. I miss Western.

Meh, if the slide-feel doesn't show any gaps on the back, it should work... if it doesn't fit, they'll let you know... good luck!

Decent western saddles are quite hard to find in this country, which is one of the reasons I went for this one- it really is a bargain and if it fits that is a big win as far as I'm concerned...

Oh, reall----Okay, I'll stop there, short of looking like a total idiot... yeah, I'm in the Prairies of Canada, so Western Saddles are... we'll say "commonly found everywhere."
