Well that was... blustery.

I guess we should have expected it from Caledonia, but even so a day of constant rain followed by a day of tent-destroying gale force winds was quite pesky from a weather perspective. Also our tent is broken and I think I lost my (by this point old and somewhat blunt) swiss army knife somewhere in the chaos of dismantled command tents. Still, it was old, somewhat blunt and a bit gritty after spending six weeks buried in the school at the yard, so I guess a replacement may be in order.

I didn't enjoy the Moots as much as I was hoping to, not sure why, but I'm not sure I find Rules 3 agreeable. It seems like they've taken a lot of quirky stuff out of the game. I'm sure it makes it harder to powergame, but it also makes it harder to do the kind of funny and odd things that we have enjoyed in the past. I enjoyed monstering at Moot 1 and there was some pretty entertaining stuff going on at Moot 2 - Lizards, Tides and Crew are a good set of groups for hilarity in more or less any setting but did we enjoy it any more being at an LT major event than we would have if we'd all just been camping somewhere together anyway? I honestly couldn't say.

Also, my next character will probably be a human. Prosthetics and paint are hassley, as is the way masks accumulate moisture and then dribble it down your face as the day wears on.

That was my complaint about them too. It felt that standardising stuff resulted in a loss of the imaginative wacky stuff that I really enjoyed. I don't think it's decreased powergaming, it may have encouraged it, it certainly seems to have increased power levels.

Did you suddenly write your name on your pen knife? That was how I lost mine.

I think what has probably been eliminated was the crazy big system-breaking stuff, which was often what happened when they gave out a lammie without really thinking through what it's possible outcome. The trouble is that some of the best things we made was pretty broken, but it was alright because we played it for laughs, there were a few specials around that were similarly broken and some of them kind of were dicks with it.

The problem as I see it is that the ritual and osp system is purely stats based- it's all +1 lhv, ability to cast high magic or whatever. They have taken out all the role-play stuff that we used to count on for our entertaining downsides or generally making stuff that was fun. As you say, the statistics are easier to get now, which means that they are a little bit meaningless - it's easy to powergame but in a kind of a slightly wanky adding-up-the-numbers kind of a way.

I think that's probably close to what bothers me about Rules 3- it's taken too much the roleplay out, turned it into WoW in a field without the cutesy graphics.

The other day I found myself randomly looking at the CP website, just to see what they were up to.

I suspect that if you ever fancy a CP event we're probably up for it. We like Lrping.
