A-Visitin' we did go
8 March 2008 22:56After a midday lesson with Julian we went off to visit
evil_c and Asher and their herd of ponies in the afternoon.
It was pretty cold and wet, but we brought in Lizzie and gave her hugs and grooming and scratches and general attention ( which she loves ) and then tried putting our treeless saddles on her to see how she got on with them.
I rode her on my saddle and she was very sweet- forwardgoing and willing, especially once I got the rein short enough for her to really trot forward. Her trot is beautifully smooth and pony-like and something about her combination of size, willingness and general nature suggested to me that she would make a tremendous cowhorse.
We also got to meet the rest of the herd, Tari being sweet natured and rambuctious, Piceur being friendly and very striking in motion and Curly thinking he'd quite like to come and say hello only he wasn't sure we were to be trusted and anyway Lizzie said he wasn't allowed to talk to her new friends. Watching
evil_c and
sleepsy_mouse playing welsh-pony tennis with him while they tried to persuade him into his stable so he could enjoy dinner without the girls stealing it was very entertaining. Curly seemed to be having a lovely time too.

Tari - either she had been wearing too much mascara for the rainy weather or her foalie-fluff is being shed.

Lizzie is inquisitive about the camera.

It was a really nice day and a pleasure to find some other imaginary internet friends are awesome in real life as well as in imaginary internetland.

Date: 9 Mar 2008 00:35 (UTC)Tari has always had a two-tone face. She hasn't yet decided what shade she wants to be when she gets older, so she is trying them all out whilst she is growing up. Shes shedding her winter fuzz earlier than the others, so thats her Spanish side of her kicking in then and saying soon it will bee very hot. What a shock her system will have when her body realises she's in for an English summer! Tari's mane on the first photo just about shows how it normally is, all fuzzy and random and very thick. I think I know now why they shave off the manes of the mares, but I wont shave hers off, eventhough it means I can never show her as part PRE. I hope her mane grown lovely and long like the PRE stallion's manes grow.
Welsh-pony tennish was funny. Curly thinks too much for his own good. He was so good yesterday, but because it was time for worming he obviously hated me today and didn't want to get trapped in the stable again. He is such a character, wouldn't part with him for the world even with his silly cuteness!
