We went to the cinema for the second time this year, to see Stardust. It was entertaining fluff of the highest order and very enjoyable to go with it.

It was good to see my friend [livejournal.com profile] shanks01 portrayed by an actor as serious as Robert De Niro.

Also the trailer for The Golden Compass gave me hope- Nicole Kidman is perfectly cast, and Christopher Lee belongs in the Magisterum, although the daemons were a little bit CGI looking. I think it will be worth seeing, though. Well worth seeing.

AAAAAAARGHHHHH *flails*

I apologise. I adore His Dark Materials triology (I presume you've read it yourself?), and it annoys me SO very much that they changed the name of the film/first book. Wtf?? Do Americans not know what Northern Lights are? Are the Northern Lights not the entire point of the first book? WHY MUST THEY DO THAT.

On a brighter note, Iorek looks as amazing as I'd imagined. <3

You see it doesn't bother me because the american name actually ties in with the titles of the other two books in the trilogy as they are all things. The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass- when you can see them all in a row it is entirely logical, more so than Northern Lights.

Annoys me far less than Harry Potter and the Sorcerors Stone. The what now? The Sorceror's Stone is nothing, the Philosopher's Stone is the objective of all alchemy. Why do they have to assume everyone in america is totally ignorant? The people I've met there do nothing to confirm this.
