Now that November is over I know for sure that I have been a member of Sequoia for more than a year. In that time we have played 24 gigs and recorded a CD that I am very proud of. We are even, apparently, a band to watch. Anyone inclined to do such watching should maybe think about going up to Camden Barfly on the afternoon of Sunday 12th of December for our final gig of 2004. The Barfly is right by Camden market so it is a good opportunity to explore there as well, if that is your thing and although it is an acoustic show we are headlining so we get a decent amount of set.
Since I got it to install, I have played quite a bit of Half Life 2, which is very like the original Half Life in terms of pure playability and fun ( although some of the puzzles are a bit obviously "we've got a physics engine and we're not scared to use it" ) and read the whole of Amanda Hemingway's "The Greenstone Grail" which was good fun, if lightweight after the Dorothy Dunnett books I was reading previously. I believe the novels of Dorothy Dunnett to be the most cunning books I have ever read, leaving the likes of Iain M Banks, K J Parker and George R R Martin entirely in the shade; doubly so because she manages to wind her stories into recorded history so you cannot see the edges. If you're thinking to read them I would start with "Niccolo Rising" which you will probably be able to pick up second hand. Awesome stuff.
