[livejournal.com profile] shiva_matimbres and I have the most wistful pets. Science and 6 Music concur.

Also, don't forget how brilliant xkcd.com is.

And the Midlake album is pretty awesome too. Kind of in a family with Grandaddy or Mercury Rev but more acoustic and a tiny bit more 70s than either. Young Bride is a brilliant song, as is Van Occupanther.

Finally, I need advice on a decision: Tonight is the last ninja night of the term, it will be a good opportunity to see everyone, thank our society president who has really worked to get my associate membership (as a non-student in a student society) sorted out and to go for a drink after. It will also be a grading and the last thing I want to do is get graded by accident- if anything I'm getting worse rather than better at the moment - but I could probably help some of the other students do well. It would be really good fun.

However, it is also the night that Steeleye Span play in Reading, the last time they play anywhere nearby on this tour. I have missed them the last couple of tours and I really do want to see them while they have Rick Kemp back on bass, which he has been doing for the last year or two but I've not managed to get to any shows while he has been with them and he is my ultimate bass hero so I'd really love to see him play again. I've only ever seen him play for half a set during their big "every lineup ever" gig a few years back.

Which should I go for, oh wise LJ friends?

tricky - but a ninja could surely manage both by moving so quickly and silently between the two.

I'm afraid, swift and silent though I be, it still takes an hour to get from Reading to Guildford or vice versa. And the two are simultaneous. I haven't yet learned the techniques to manipulate time...

Then they're obviously not teaching you their most powerful techniques

I suggest go to Steeleye Span, watch it, get all the drunken music fans to come back with you and beat the ninjas into submission until they tell you their mystical secrets

I don't think they would be teaching me the most powerful techniques - they've seen how totally inept I am with their least powerful techniques...

This is an easy one.
