After all of yesterday's stressful meanderings, Othello's owner (who is absolutely lovely) took one look at him and me and said something along the lines of "he looks so happy with you" and it was so irrefutably true that there was no question of our changing anything for the time being. He is a very different horse from when he arrived- calm, relaxed and mellow and although there is a lot to work on still he is very pleasant to be around. We also talked about his health and he really has been tested for pretty much everything in the time he was at his previous yard, which is reassuring- it at least means he probably doesn't have any of the problems that we were really worried about. For the time being he is going to stay with us. I'm really happy about this. I think pony would be too, if he knew what had been going on in my head. Come to think of it, maybe he did. He was suspiciously well behaved...

In other news, I'm considering applying for a job, if only i can work out how to apply...

There is a tradition in the Google recruitment process of placing clever puzzles into their ads as an aid to recruiting the most outstanding candidates. I'm pretty sure that the advert I linked is behaving in that way- especially as when you click on "apply" it says "read the ad carefully to see how to apply."

I could be completely mistaken of course and wasting my time entirely- I'm running short on ideas now anyways - but analysing the text and running it through the usual families of cyphers and types of numeric analysis has got me writing a bunch of very different Ruby to what I normally do, which is probably good for my brain.

I'm currently thinking on doing something brute-force to see if it brings out anything that looks remotely correct...

I'm glad to hear that the situation with Othello is better than you had thought yesterday. It is clear that it's a 'horse and his boy...er, man(?)' situation (ok, maybe that comparison doesn't work so well).

I've had my share of puzzling websites lately, good luck on yours.

Are either you or Louis allergic to maple syrup? I'm planning on bringing some. British versions of it can be a sugary mess.

Not at all, not that we use it much as british versions are a sugary mess. We mostly end up cooking with honey as our closest native equivalent...
