Longest weekend ever

That was a tremendous weekend, all told. I'm only posting about it now because it sort of began with a gig in Oxford on Thursday night, which was in a really good venue with a good sound and an audience that enjoyed the show and carried on right up to our show at the Wilde Theatre in Bracknell last night, which was amazing. It is such a refreshing change to be playing on a stage big enough for me to be able to walk to the maximum extent of my lead, something I took plenty of advantage of.

On Friday we had a visit from some roving celts, bringing tall tales and megalith-themed lollies from out of the west - it was a great pleasure to see them all again. Saturday, Sunday and Monday were largely spent with beasts- Othello seemed to really benefit from working every day, transforming from a recalcitrant sod on Friday to a relatively willing and well behaved pony on Monday. It took a while for him to realise that even if I'm riding him in a bareback pad with one rein and a headcollar he still has to go where I ask him to - we went in a lot of circles before he figured that although he could turn in the direction I have the rope, I could keep him turning until we were back where I wanted us to go. On Sunday we were able to move their fence across the field giving them a bit ( well, about six metres, which is apparently quite a lot ) of fresh and tasty spring grass to graze on. This was pretty much the ideal gift for ponies, apparently.

Tuesday was working early and for most of the day followed by a dash off to the theatre to soundcheck. It was a great night out and both this week's gigs have served as a reminder of why I do this whole music thing. Also, it was an absolute pleasure to see Big Wednesday live, as always. The other bands on the bill were the much improved Ecoute who looked a little overwhelmed by the amount of stage they had and the hilarious Asono who sounded like you would expect them to from their list of influences ( including Joe Perry, Freddy Mercury, Jon Bonjovi, Bono, Steve Tyler, Slash, Yngwie Malmsteen ) and looked like Shanks believes his band look on stage. They are very young and utterly unironic in their devotion to ROCK which for some reason meant I couldn't stop laughing for what I saw of their set.

The roving celts were much impressed by the ruduction in spider numbers at your place and are still grateful that you're better then Helpful Stu.

blimey, that photo isn't from Oxford, is it? I don't recognise the venue at all (though it does look a bit like the stage they used for the Creep video, which I've never been to)...

No, that's the bracknell one, although I think the Sequoia site (http://www.sequoiauk.co.uk) has us in Oxford on the front page.
