Just been finding some old singles and putting them on my PC. There's a few things here that are great but I haven't heard in literally years - Dune Sea by Unbelievable Truth being a good example - and it's amazing how the memories come rushing back.

Also makes me want to borrow extensive chunks from [livejournal.com profile] life_of_tom's CD collection.

i spent ages converting all my CD music to MP3's then transferring them to my ipod.

The net result is that now when I play it on random I find either A) something nostalgic comes on, and I start thinking of old times. Or B) I end with some random combinations of songs, such as classical followed by metal, followed by folk. Mad I think.

Oh, just thought about something. Do you ever consider that one day some your songs could become a nostalgic song for someone. Possibly a make out song, break up song, or happy times song. To be honest that would be totally cool.

I can understand the lure of writing awsome songs.

That would be amazing! Or a bassist saying "well my playing is quite influenced by a band called Sequoia..."

I could retire happy at that point. Actually I think I may have already decided I can retire happy after being recognised in the chippy...

recognition is what you want, really. I remember feeling a certain smug pride when Fake Idols' lead singer mentioned the name of his band, and someone went 'oh, you're in Fake Idols? Are you their drummer?'

that was as good as it got for me.
