One of my favourite bands ever was called The Dharmas. They were great live, worked really well on record and they were completely shagged by a major record label and fell to pieces. About half of them continued as Steadman who were also good but I can't judge whether they worked live because they pretty much vanished off to America and didn't come back. Steadman parted company with their record company a while back and went very quiet for a while. I kind of thought they had just vanished altogether, but apparently it was not so and they have just rebuilt their website releasing all their music for free download from the site. If you liked them, or you didn't know about them but you like the idea of funky eclectic violin-lead indie you could do a lot worse than visiting www.steadmanband.com and downloading yourself some tunes.

I'm listening to the Dharmas album now and it's bringing back some great memories of amazing gigs and being a whole lot younger...

On the Freeloads page if you select the album it should give you the list of songs with "download", "stream" and "lyrics" by each one. If you... hmmm... suddenly it seems I can only do it in my browser.

The way forward is apparently to use Opera (http://www.opera.com) which appears to be the only browser that has a working right click "Save link target as" option. Firefox just wants to open it with quicktime, IE tries to save the html redirect.

Apparently to get IE to work properly you have to tell it to ask you what it wants to do with MP3s:

Open My Computer
Tools / Folder Options
Goto the File Types tab
Highlight .MP3
Click Advanced
check the Confirm open after download box.

Nerds!

The Dharmas are a rubbish local band that where on in the background as Linds and I drank our teenage years away in the Kings Nightclub in Milford.

They weren't local to you! They were from Hove or somewhere like that if I recall correctly. Far from Haverfordwest anyways. I had seen them play at Glastonbury, Guildford and Exeter before I even saw them in wales.

Also, they weren't rubbish.

Aside from that an accurate assessment.

They had mates in Milford and played there lots. I never realised they weren't another local band til I saw you wearing a T-Shirt.

Wow, that's quite remarkably exciting!

[If only IE would let me download the tracks in some way. Finally downloading Firefox so perhaps some Dharmas later...]
