A few more pics from this week of working with my mare:


Iris offered her first bit of noticeable resistance, which involved trying to get ahead of me and back out to the gate when we were working a bit faster. This kind of thing is not a problem at all- she is a real pleasure to work with.


I got my saddle cleaned ( whilst watching Racing Stripes which is every inch the film Spielberg thought he was making in War Horse ) so I could try it on her. It is actually a little forward here and consequently was tight across the shoulder, also I needed to tweak cinches a bit. It sits quite nicely an inch or two further back, well enough to be worth a bit of a try and see how we get on with it, I think.


Cash likes having a friend again, they seem to get on alright.

Cash is in looooovvve, or so it appears. As for the other, looks like typical young horse testing out an owner new to her, and nothing huge. I love her expression under saddle.

Every horse I have ever owned previously has been far more of a handful. So far this mare has just been tremendous. Long may she stay that way.

Get thee a diamond wool pad. 1" thick. Ranch style. Helps with saddle fit really good.

I have one actually, I just wanted to test the saddle without it so I could feel exactly how the bars interact with the shape of her back.
