I am currently listening to the masters for the album. It sounds fantastic. It sounds like our songs, but the performances are spot on, the extra instrumentation - a bit of hammond here, a cello there - brings the songs out of themselves. I honestly believe that we have created a brilliant record, something we can be genuinely proud of, no matter how it performs in the shops. I also think that it has a good chance of selling a lot of copies, it's very accessible and the tunes are distinctive and catchy. Delays in the mixing process ( and partly us underestimating how long mixing would take ) have resulted in us having to push the release back by a month or so to October 31, which is good news for pagans. We have put the release gig back to Saturday 29th October at Farnham Maltings. It will be more awesome, even, than I expected before- the gig we played this evening featured Andy Longhair on piano for a couple of tracks and he is very good indeed, when he is with us for the whole set we shall be unstoppable.

It may sound like the end of September was plenty of time but we need to have enough space to get the CD reproduced and then get it to the distribution company and record plugger (the person who knows the people who can get your songs on the radio) and to get review copies out to the media. We're working with a very well reputed record promotion company who only take albums on if they really like them so being accepted by them on the back of the first few songs off the album to be mixed was a very positive sign in itself.

None of which, really, explains why this post refers to the depths of time. That is because I noticed a couple of days ago that today marks the end of the first year that I have had a LiveJournal. I've got to say, it's a great tool and a really good way of keeping in touch with some fine and much missed friends and to become better acquainted with other interesting people who I would only really otherwise be on the loosest terms with.

A pretty good year then, all told. And now, the future beckons...
