Cash seems to be settling well - yesterday he whinneyed at me when I got to the yard in the morning and trotted over for a hug, both yesterday and today he came straight up and allowed us to put a halter on him. As he grows in confidence he is starting to reveal himself as a really big cheeky personality. He is actually super-adorable.

Handsome profile.

Zorro and his shadow
Not the only handsome horse in our field. Zorro and I did a little schooling - he is doing really well now I know what we're looking for. Starting to feel much more transparent.

Posing for the camera, you're doing it wrong.

The noble irish sport horse
That is more like it!

Tomorrow evening we have our trimmer coming over so hopefully she will start to get rid of some of the flare that is making him uncomfortable and putting strain on his feet, after which I embark for Adventureville!

This guy clearly has some physical stuff going on and will be better after meeting the Chiro but unusually he is much stronger behind than in his shoulder - he has a chunky backside and hind legs and quite weeny shoulders - and I don't think it will take long for him to become a really impressive little horse. Also he can flag his tail properly when he gets excited and it is ever so cute...

Interestingly, the problem they now have in Ireland is that they sold most of their really good stock to the continent in the last few decades ( most breeders were farmers rather than horse specialists, breeding a few hunters, so a good offer on a stallion was something they wouldn't turn down ) so there are fewer really great Irish stallions than there once were and a lot of their best stock still sell for export.

I'm not surprised about the hind end. That's often a Quarter Horse issue and it's one I had to address with Mocha (there's a reason why we take pix of QH butts all the time...their best feature!). What I did with her was work on foreleg stretches on the ground, which really seemed to address that front end weakness.

Not surprised about the Ireland issue, though one of my friends picked up a Really Good ISH over there as a jumper, and he's doing well. Keep looking for the name Touch Cruise (Cruiser or Da Nose). If he stays sound, you'll be hearing more about that boy.
