Today we took advantage of the unseasonably wonderful weather to go out for an 11.5 mile ride around the common.

April Ride 1
The hill you can see over that flowering gorse? Cantering up that is basically pure essence of joy.

April Ride 2
I love this little hill with it's mossy forest floor. A gorgeous place and in the bright sunshine today it just sparkled.

April Ride 3
A decision ahead!

April Ride 4
At this point Small decided to go off into the woods, apparently just to pose!

April Ride 5
A very cute pony, if sometimes a little bit random in his decision making.

We also crossed a golf course. Golf is apparently an odd thing for humans to do and those sticks may just be designed for beating up ponies with.

Lovely pics!

And yes, golfers are certainly harmful. There was a driving range just beside the outside arena of my riding school years ago, and it did happen, now and then, that a golf ball went astray and actually hit a horse. Your horses should be suspicious.

:D Small is a supermodel of a pony. He knows how to work it.

Gorgeous photos as always; really like the ones taken in woodland.

Cantering! Sunshine! That's what it's all about.

At one point as we cantered along I was giggling loudly in a ridiculous falsetto way. I have no idea why, but I suspect the reason was joy.

We waited for some people to tee off at the start of the course because we thought it might be upsetting for them to find their swing was so far off that they hit a passing pony. Getting bucked off would constitute a harsh critique of someone's shot.

While we waited a gentleman from the club who was passing chatted to us and told us some bits and bobs about the local history and archaeology that I was totally unaware of in spite of having lived in this area most of my life.

Um... I have to admit that I cackle when galloping. It's probably a bit alarming to any passers-by.
