New Years Eve was good fun- there had been a murder apparently and this meant we had to indulge in terrible puns. Fortunately we had a crew of elite punmakers so that was quite easy.

We got home ( listening, on the journey, to a complete Lord Of The Rings audiobook whose reader is pleasantly reminiscent of Oliver Postgate ) a little after three this morning. Fortunately a friend of ours had insisted on putting the ponies out for us so we had a lie in this morning.

Then in the afternoon we took the ponies out so Small could admire the scenery:
Our new years day ride

He hadn't actually been out on many of the trails we took because they have only been opened up since he was ill so this was a new adventure for him, which was really nice because he had his adventuring face on and marched happily around the place.

Except at one point when he saw a tree stump. I mean tree stumps! Seriously!

We came home and watched The Last Unicorn which I had bought as a Christmas Present for [livejournal.com profile] sleepsy_mouse - it's very bless but Unicorns have weird conformation.

Still seeking recommendations for my 2011 reading challenge by the way.

It certainly works in terms of starting as we would like to go on.

So... you were on my to-meet list and then you were all "hahaha murder hahaha" and I reconsidered.

To be fair, I wasn't the murderer, so you're quite safe. Although I was playing a ventriloquist who believed his puppet to have an independent life of its own, so you know- typecast again. Also said puppet had an impressively foul mouth on it, we discovered.

It turns out when this particular group of people gets together for a Murder Mystery evening, [livejournal.com profile] hopkinssj2000 always turns out to be the murderer, so we can save on a whole lot of rounds of the game by just accusing him at the start.

Damn that ocean between us. I think hanging out with you would have me rolling around on the ground laughing.

I may be doing a bit of travelling later in the year. If I am stopping over to say hello to you guys will be a priority.

You are more than welcome, and you can crash at our house if you need a place to sleep :)

What a nice, relaxed picture! So what breed is Small?

He's Connemara/Arab cross. A lot of pony cheekiness combined with arab sensitivity and forwardness. Also with the Arab capacity for growing an enormously fluffy winter coat.

Sounds like a nice combination, though.

Lovely photo of Small. :) It needs a story to accompany it, hehe.

And I hope to one day abolish the myth of Unicorns being fragile, inadequately-built Last Unicornisms.
