So my tenth Gathering, the first one I've been to in a couple of years.

Right Time
  • Sekhmates - we have a supersweet team in this group so we have very funny times but we can be pretty intense when the need arises.
  • The rest of the Jackals also being pretty darned awesome
  • Life around the ritual circle being eventful whenever we went there.
  • "When the day is long/But your rituals very short..."
  • Some awesome rites, especially the leg one.
  • Camel licence negotiations.
  • Rich being the awesomest at making breakfast.
  • The way the Lucas thing was handled by everyone involved.
  • The outcome of our ritual was superlame, but the way it was sorted out was good.

Too Soon
  • The exploding ritual. We needed those Golden City guys for taunting and intolerance.
  • The chaotic ritual effects #1: They seemed stronger in the more chaotic rituals. I can see why you might do that, but those rituals were quite chaotic to start with and I think it would be more logical if the less chaotic rituals had had their chaos quotient upped involuntarily than having the people working to go with the flow of the circle being effectively punished for it.
  • The chaotic ritual effects #2: Sometimes they were funny, other times they seemed solely designed to break the flow of ritual teams. I realise that's adding to the challenge but it seems to me like they were just overdone a little in some rituals.
  • The chaotic ritual effects #3: Could I make an item that caused "mass hop for one minute"? It seems like they have been very keen to restrict ritual effects and kill off any of the amusing ritual side-effects we used to enjoy creating quirky items with. Now I don't mind if we have a bit of freedom to add roleplayed effects and qualities to our magic items, or if the random chaotic effects were strictly played within the rules. In fact I prefer the former. But I think it would be nice if the playing field was level in that respect.
  • I only have 10 osps in the bank? WTF? I have spent none since the system went all digital and I'm pretty sure I've made at least a few moots in that time. I'm sure we can sort it over the winter ( I need to shift some old plastic ones anyways ) but it killed any chance of spending them on useful training.
  • Sunday was the most hungover I have been in years.

On the whole it was an excellent event and I really enjoyed it- my whinges are wordy but didn't have much impact on my experience overall and the upsides totally overwhelm my complaints in every respect.

After being back in work today, we're off to a Silversand clinic tomorrow and for the rest of the week, so I may not be around a whole lot. It will be nice to have a clinic where [livejournal.com profile] sleepsy_mouse doesn't have to commute back and forth as -although she's not riding- Small is able to come with us and just hang out.

All well said. We rock! :)

The chaos effects in the faculty ritual were fucking annoying though - designed specificity to disrupt the ritual - so, not chaotic at all, just disruptive.

Thanks to everyone, this weekend was the best gathering I have ever had.

We really did rock. We should make sure this continues.
