My shoulder has been picking up pretty well and I've been happy with how things are going. But today on the drive to the ponies, we went over a speed bump and somehow that shook my shoulder up and something shifted in there. I was left with a sensation of intense wrongness - not pain, but my collarbone feels intrusive and different. I can still move my arm as much as I did before but my skin feels tighter across the bone and more awkward.

Clearly something has changed and I have no idea what. Hopefully it's just part of the healing process, just something shifting that needed to shift and I haven't managed to undo any healing, but it does still feel very weird and if not painful certainly disconcertingly uncomfortable. Hopefully after a night's sleep I'll be more comfortable and back to my regular progress.

At the least a reminder that I am still injured and I can't afford to make any assumptions about my recovery.

D: Ow ow ow. Please report the the ship's surgeon right away if it's not better by the morning. Sounds uncomfortable! :(

Just what I was going to say. Well something close to that anyway, probably involving MEDIC! rather than ships surgeons though.

It just feels big again now, like there is a lot of stuff under my skin, which there is but I had been getting kind of used to. Having seen how many screws are through it I'm not that worried about the bone being damaged and if it is just muscle or other stuff there's not a lot anyone can do anyways.

The doctors said that I should let pain be my guide- it's not really painful, so it's probably alright. Unpleasant rather than dangerous I think.

I guess it could be scar tissue doing something weird. Still, if it's not the sort of thing that you've been warned about, it might be worth getting it looked at, for the sake of peace of mind if nothing else. I dinged my ankle up a while back getting off a bus (living on the edge! Yeah!) and odd little things happened now and again.

My Doctor was happy enough to take a look and say 'yeah, it looks fine,' as it was clear I wasn't being a hypochondriac with it, I had specific concerns. I imagine it'll be the same with you.

Even if there's no pain, if it feels wrong then I think you should ask the doctor to check it again.

True. I'm paying it attention, but if it settles over the next day or so I'll probably leave it because I don't seem to have lost a lot of movement, if a bit of strength. Maybe set me a week or so back, but not a huge amount. I'm supposed to be on holiday next week so it will mostly be rested then.

Thing is the fracture clinic do seem pretty busy, so I don't know what my chances of getting it looked at practically are likely to be. If it gets painful I will, though, no question...

*gentle healing hugs*

My collection now includes 1 bad back, 1 bad knee, 1 hiatal hernia, and 2 bad hips. No more backing greenies for me ever again, I'm afraid.

Oh, that's not so good. Not good at all. With two bad hips then sitting on a horse like mine would be pretty unlikely too. He's hard work even with regular ones..
