Small pony is in recovery. As far as colic surgery goes it seems to have been the best case- they were able to shift the blockage without cutting into the gut, so the chance of infection should be lower.

He's not out of the woods, not by a long way, but he has survived surgery and that is a massive relief.

Just a quick update - he seems a lot brighter this evening, and has spent about 30 minutes going nudging and nuzzling me and going through my pockets, just in case my phone has miraculously become edible!

It will be at least a week before he can come home, assuming his recovery goes according to plan, but I'm just so glad things turned out well.

And thank you all for the good wishes - they help a very great deal.
