Saying goodbye to yesterday's things

The last few weeks have been really good from a musical point of view- since we got back to serious rehearsing we have been working on new material and on improving the arrangements of existing songs and it has made our practice sessions much more enjoyable- we know how to play all the songs in our regular set backwards and upside down and just banging through them in practice grows tiresome after a while. We have some very exciting and potentially career-changing things coming up in the next few months and I think that has given us a new force and impetus to move forward and a chance to work at the creative part of being musicians. People tend to think of music as a creative activity but by and large it is actually a repetetive one, so this makes for a pleasant change.

We've got a couple of gigs at the end of this week where we will be showcasing a couple of new tracks- one at the 12 Bar Club in central London and one at Sleepers' bar in Basingstoke ( this is actually the railway station bar ) which will combine the two elements of a two-hour set and a tiny tiny stage with almost certainly hilarious consequences.
