It is just a couple of weeks over five years since I first set up this LJ, which means it's just a couple of weeks under five years that [livejournal.com profile] sleepsy_mouse and I have been married. Sorry, LJ Friends, but the latter is more momentous.

This weekend is our second clinic with Steve. Small and [livejournal.com profile] sleepsy_mouse have had to pull out because he's still ill ( not in the same way he was earlier, but the whole thing has been a catalogue of disasters for the poor little guy ) so it's only Zorro and I. Our lorry went away to be plated ( the lorry version of an MOT ) and the mechanics have totally shagged us over again by not checking the brakes before they put it in ( hey they only had four weeks, we had made it clear the brakes weren't great and they are only lorry mechanics so how are they supposed to tell that the brakes weren't working ) so that it failed badly and we're not going to have it back in time for the clinic. In spite of their assurances at every turn that it would be. So now we have to find transport for the August bank holiday with two days notice. Thanks, lorry guys.

On the upside, the clinic being this weekend rather than mid-september means that for the first time since the wedding we're actually not at a clinic on our anniversary.

I'm feeling a bit rough at the moment too - yesterday I rode Zorro ( and we went down the scary rocky steep path that we rode up for the first time the other day ) but when I got off I suddenly felt so weak I could barely stand. That persisted for the rest of the day and into this morning. This evening, having slept almost all day, I was able to walk to the ponies, so I think I'm most of the way back up to strength, but I hate that breathless weak feeling.

Also, on the walk over to the ponies I went down the scary steep rocky path and it was being resurfaced. That is not before time - the years of 4x4 abuse have left it literally as a rock staircase and hopefully by making it less challenging it will be a bit less attractive to the land rover brigade who do tend to go down there and just trash stuff. It does mean that yesterday's descent was our last opportunity to ride that trail in that state, so in a way it was pretty cool that just by chance ( I certainly hadn't planned on that route when we set out ) we took that trail and Zorro showed what he can do on tough descents. Which is mostly stepping carefully down it and making sure he chose a route that put me under as many low branches as possible.

I'm going to maybe start looking at some things that happened in that time just to see if i can make it feel like as long as it was. It feels like a year ago, maybe two at most...

You were married just recently and have been married forever? At least that's how I feel. (Much like when I got the horse, actually. :-)

Happy anniversary!

The riding school next to me has a little 2 horse lorry that is a hire vehicle. £95 a day (with credit card worth of £500 insurance excess needed too) which may be available and you can pick it up the night before you need it, other than that I can think of Michelle at HoofMove who you recommended to me anyway. There's also a transport guy called Victor near me. I can give you his number. Worth a try?

I'd say Lou could take Curly but with Tari coming down with what is possibly a virus this morning I wouldn't want any of mine to go near any other horses until we know for sure whats happening.

Oh dear, I hope you haven't got swine flu. :S
Also, stupid lorry people. Send Zorro to stomp on them. Hope you find some replacement transport in time, and that you're feeling better too!

I hope I'm feeling better as well. I'm better today than yesterday, so hopefully I'll keep on in that direction.
