So this evening we came home to find the house had been turned over and both laptops and a bunch of other stuff gone. Lucky us.

Ouch. Nu fun at all - not only the missing things, but that somebody has been inside and messed with everything.

*hugs* I hope they find whoever did it, and *mumble* *mumble* *no nice things at all*

Some people are scum and deserve kneecaping.

Date: 30 Jun 2009 20:28 (UTC)
From: [identity profile] penella22.livejournal.com
Holy shit.

I would be so pissed...I'd skip the kneecaps and go straight to more vital areas.

Yes, we've done the whole giving our reports thing, now we have to go about sorting out insurance and everything else. Maybe we have SOCO come visit maybe we don't.

Sucks a whole lot. Another sucky thing in a sucky week.

So sorry to hear this. Good reason to always have backups.

That's horrid, but look on the positive. You weren't there and no one was hurt. Sucks, yes, and I'd be furious too but objects can be replaced.

From: [identity profile] glenatron.livejournal.com
That's true. If I had been there people would have been hurt. Very badly hurt.

I hate those mutha uckas.

Bad thoughts about those who did it, good thoughts to you.

If bad thoughts could kill, they'd be in a lot of trouble right now.

Sometimes one wishes one was some kind of powerful wizard to wreak havoc on one's enemies. Other times one realises actually one is a pretty powerful wizard in some respects and maybe there is something that can be done to wreak havoc on enemies if this was to happen again...

That fucking sucks. Happened to me too only in March. :( Hope things are backed up/insured/replaceable, and there's something tangible you can do to beef up security. It's awful when they've been through your stuff.

Theres a lot of stuff we can do to make the PCs safer, the other stuff we can work on but there's that niggling feeling that a spare key has gone missing and the knowledge that some of the windows are old and not terribly secure...

That's awful. I hope they get the jerks and that they didn't take anything precious.

(shiney new laptops can be obtained with insurance)

From: [identity profile] glenatron.livejournal.com
Lucky that we got insurance set up on Sunday, really...

What is suspicious is that shiny new laptops had only recently been delivered. I'm not suggesting anything untoward going on, but anyone in that delivery chain knew that there was new kit in the house.

Get stuff delivered to the office, kids!

omg, that is awful. Hugs. Main thing is that you are both ok though.

From: [identity profile] spoondog.livejournal.com
That's the worst. Love and Hugs to you both. I hope nothing irreplacable has gone and that the jerks got run over on their way home.

Let us know if we can help make you feel better in any way.

Unfortunately there was some jewellery belonging to [livejournal.com profile] sleepsy_mouse's great grandmother stolen which we'll only see again if the police recover it from the slimebag in question.

Date: 1 Jul 2009 11:15 (UTC)
From: [identity profile] spoondog.livejournal.com
Fuckers. Give her my love. I know I'd be gutted if anything happened to the jewellery I have from my Gran.

I know it's invasive and horrible, but get SOC in. There's always a chance they'll find something.

Date: 1 Jul 2009 12:06 (UTC)
From: [identity profile] glenatron.livejournal.com
We've had them to call, there are a few things they had to send off but nothing really obvious unfortunately.

By the way, this is good because they may not immediately get caught for your burglary as a result of this, but if they do find anything that means they will eventually get stung for it as it will be linked back when they are caught red-handed for another burglary.

From: [identity profile] glenatron.livejournal.com
True. If they come to visit again, I have an idea for some pleasant surprises I can offer. I may not be the ultimate crime fighter but I am pretty handy with a programming language...

Its those things that can't be replaced that hurt the most.

Be aware, some people wait until you'd have claimed in the insurence and got new things then come back. Maybe invest in a doberman?

Date: 2 Jul 2009 16:39 (UTC)
From: [identity profile] glenatron.livejournal.com
We're kind of expecting that to be honest. We have some ideas to make their job harder if they do.
