Fearful hound

We're currently sharing our house with my parents and their border collie, Pippa. For most of this evening Pippa, usually an excessively exciteable and cheerful beast, has been cowering behind the television and refusing to come out. This is because sleepsy_mouse dropped a sliver of cheese on her head and then tried to make her eat it.

Was there ever a dog so cruelly misused?

Poor dog. Cheese. In the head. And then trying to make her eat it, too. Indeed.

(Border collies are my favourite kind of dog. But I need something like twenty extra hours per day, and preferably a flock of sheep first - and then there's the little problem that my husband is allergic to dogs, and I'm not swapping him for any border collie. But if I could have a dog, and had time for one...)
