Turns out that when your phone is ringing it is traditional to take it out of your pocket and answer it rather than failing to take it out of your pocket and have it fall into your horse's water bucket. It also turns out that cheap and rubbish Nokia phones survive being in a bucket of water surprisingly well if you take out the battery and give them some time to dry.

All in all, an educational evening.

Also, cold. It's been very cold the last week, everything frozen solid and this morning there was a really heavy hoar frost covering everything. In fact this morning Zorro had frost on his mane and ice crystals on his whiskers. I don't mind it being cold mostly - there is no mud and a proper freeze like this will have killed off a lot of insects that have been surviving the winters a bit too well the last few years but having to break the ice on water troughs and change multiple layers of rugs has made me a little late in to work this week. Not helped by the A3 being solid most mornings, presumably because people overestimate their skill at driving fast on frosty roads and then crash, but maybe just because people who would normally cycle or take the train don't fancy hypothermia so much.

I dropped the blackberry into a puddle about two weeks ago - submerged it, buttons down. Yea, that sucked. Pulled the battery out and put it under a hair dryer at work - voila, it's all better again. Haha, love technology :P

hair dryers are good....rumor has it sticking the phone in a bag of rice to dry out can also be helpful, although I found with our tv remote that there's the side effect of rice grains that never come back out...

Cold. Yes. Definitely increases traffic. Makes parking anywhere near my college classes near impossible too.

ya, we've had that weather too, alternating with rain and mud to the elbows.
