More adventures
14 October 2007 23:58Today we had a lie-in, for the first time in ages, then ambled over to the yard to spend a happy afternoon with ponies.
We brought small in first and groomed him until his coat had gone most of the way from dark bay to light chesnut and
sleepsy_mouse decided we should go for a gentle walk even though she still has a cold that is doing horrible things to her balance. We ambled very gently up the hill and for a short loop on the nature reserve beyond. Small wanted to go a little further than we planned so we let him take us around the corner so we could visit the picturesque pool there:

Very autumnal it was too. As always he was very sweet and really looked after his slightly wobbly rider.
We got home and swapped ponies so Zorro and I could have a bit of a play. There were jumps set up in the school and although we weren't jumping, we thought it would be nice to let Zorro investigate them:
After we had finished taking them down (without further assistance) we set up a few different obstacles so that we could just do some fetching and carrying and general moving around the place type tasks, including carrying things between posts and weaving around jump blocks. I found it quite reassuring that we actually do have that kind of accuracy in our riding now that we can do those things and, as tends to happen, having a task to focus on got us working as more of a team.

We both seem pretty happy with how things are going here.

Charging off into the sunset. Or possibly just to the far end of the school.
It was a tremendous day- I don't know how much more of this kind of sunny and temperate weather the autumn is going to offer us but I'm really glad we got this much.
