Numptitude
27 May 2007 22:52Worked out why I got kicked the other day. It was because I'm a dumbass.
Also, cos pony has a mard on at the moment and is very full of the joys of spring, but if I had been thinking right I would have avoided it- I was trying to lead him without checking he was with me from the very first moment. That mean't I was trying to push him to keep up rather than both of us moving off at once. And that was because I hadn't gone into enough detail about showing him what cue I expected him to be moving off from. I went back and did a few runthroughs of what exactly I wanted him to be moving from and everything was instantly easier. The same under saddle, making it clear what my cues were and that I expected them to be acted on. Everything immediately easier. I've probably been baffling the big fellow for quite a while.
Sometimes it's the really obvious things that somehow slip in under the radar.
Anyhows, a step in the right direction and this weekend is the first Silversand Clinic that Zorro and I will have attended as a team. I think it will be awesome, although as usual I expect it will also be a tough and steep learning curve.
I will be very interested to see how Zorro gets on with Steve. I think their first meeting may be rather dramatic.
