Yesterday evening we needed to get things done at the yard and I wasn't in a riding mood, so Iris' evening work was to come in and do a bit of groundwork. A few weeks ago I had done a short groundwork session that ended up with a bit of liberty stuff and she did really great while she stayed with me, so as I had a [livejournal.com profile] herecirm and a camera I asked her to do a bit of video of that:

Last time, after we had done a bit of liberty, Iris had realised there was some grass around and went off to eat it, and when I went over to catch her she ran off to the other end of the arena at top speed to eat there. I figured she might opt to do the same thing again, so we adjusted the camera and filmed some beautiful dappled mare running in slow motion, that just needed a sweeping soundtrack to add to the sentimental effect:

She really is a very special horse.

There was something hauntingly mesmerizing about that slow mo sequence. I especially liked the way she came so close to the camera and then sari just followed her dapples as she passed. Also, really beautiful noticing how her muscles moved.

OMG, she's so gorgeous! And it's beautiful watching her move in slow motion like this. Love the videos!

Personally, I've always been drawn to grey horses. There is just something about it that attracts me, and this would be a good reason why. :D

I love it- you also get to see the way she has this odd double-colouration - a mixture of something like dun and an almost purple grey. She really is quite stunning.

Pretty much if a film has a horse running in slow motion it will make me choke up at that moment, so I love this video. Also seeing the moments of suspension in her gaits and the effortless way she changes leads is quite something.

Thank you, she is a good ambassador for grey horses- there's one point where she is trotting towards the camera and she arches up and you just know there is a lot of iberian horse in there too. It's lovely.
