Woodlands after rain
15 July 2010 17:13Yesterday it rained pretty hard clearing up by evening so as I walked down to the ponies ( my main exercise at the moment ) the air was full of the mossy scent of forest after rain and a cool dampness that was very refreshing after the heat of the last few weeks. The ground really needs the rain- the fields have been parched dry and hopefully this will bring a bit of life to the grass and make it a little more nutritious and tasty for the ponies. It made for a pleasant walk, which was as well because Zorro was in an area of new grass that had been opened up for him and had no interest in talking to me.
My arm continues to regain movement. The last few days I have got through much of the daytime without wearing my sling. It gets a little tired by evening but I'm gaining strength and movement in my shoulder day by day. The scar is quite obvious, if disappointingly small and non-epic. The skin feels tight over the collarbone, which is probably because of all the metal in there. The doctors I saw on Friday seemed quite happy with progress and the x-rays were pretty interesting- there are a lot of screws into the bone from the piece of metal there. It looks a bit like the kind of thing I do when I try carpentry.
On Saturday we were able to play some songs for some friends in a field. That was really good fun. Pictures exist for this and I may post some at some point. Likewise said non-awesome scar and my non-awesome facial hair which, given that I promised it would only last as long as my sling, may be coming off fairly soon. This will make
sleepsy_mouse very happy.
Also, this made me smile - we're planning to go to France to see Martin and Jennifer teach in a month's time, it would be really good to see them again.
