What Summer evenings were made for

I spent a while with Zorro in the school today, just working on the ground, helping him to be brave by the scary hedge of doom and experimenting with a bit more energy, getting us both trotting up and down the school- I even managed to get one complete trot-disengage-turn-change rein-trot sequence without the rope going taut at any point. I was pretty happy with that, having to work through his fear of small birds in the bushes has really given a purpose to my groundwork rather than it being an end in itself, which has made it much more effective.

We have a Silversand associate, the very excellent Shuna Shaw, coming to teach us both on Sunday afternoon. This is the perfect time for that as far as Zorro and I are concerned- things are falling together quite well in some ways and the right kind of support and teaching could really help us to move forward. It will be very interesting to see how differently she approaches Zorro and Small pony, who are very distinct horses who need support in very different ways. I suspect just being in the school at the same time as one of Zorro's kicking-off sessions would leave Small a quivering wreck.
