So last night we played our big show and it was absolutely awesome. It felt good to play, we sounded good and the audience (not far off capacity- I think we had around 170 people in) were loving it. It was also fantastic to have so many friends from so many different places in- my friends from work, local friends from my college days and our distinguished houseguests- we had the pleasure of Ali, Lex and Tom down from Wales, Mark and Janet having made the drive from Leeds and Ben Pacey, who I hadn't seen for far too long and I believe leads a nomadic lifestyle that centres in London but passes through Crewe this evening. We also had a lot of the people who have helped and supported the band over the years - it was really good to have Charlie, our old keyboard player, along- he remains one of the nicest people I have ever met.

The new band website has now gone live over at www.sequoiauk.co.uk there's a lot more to it and it's more designed than the old site- it's looking very good so far.

Tomorrow the album will be released so hopefully any of you who have pre-ordered will be receiving your copy forthwith. At the time of writing our Amazon sales rank was 7529, which seems quite high, for a relatively little-known band, so that's promising at the least.

Yesterday, just before we went on stage I saw a copy of a review which is apparently going to be appearing in What Hi-fi magazine, it concluded like this:
"No point in a track-by-track breakdown because all the songs shine with a zestful brilliance. Sequoia have the credentials to fill the aching pop space left by Crowded House- they really are that good."

That is pretty much exactly the way I see the album and I am very glad to find at least one reviewer has looked at it the same way...
