Bloomin' well did happen

Warming up. He was actually more forward than he felt at the time. I think my brain was going fast.

"Enter at A in medium trot..."

Medium walk, and Zorro's love of stomping things is stronger than my ability to steer.

Most of the test was in trot. Looking back at the video I'm actually pretty happy with how we're going. I mean, there are a lot of ways we could be better, but for the work we have put in and what I expected, things came out pretty well all in all.

brilliant!!!!!! LOVE your position! you must give me some tips!!!

Thank you! The thing I found to work has been 18 months of Lunge lessons with a brilliant teacher. I think the learning is easier than finding someone that good.

If you've lived in that area for a while, were you near to Suzanne's?

Was for a long time the biggest riding school in the UK, I'm pretty sure it was up Hertfordshire way, though I don't recall exactly where.

Herts, Bucks, it's all "oop north" as far as we're concerned ;p

It closed down a few years ago now, but our teacher Julian is Suzanne's son and was the proprietor of the school for a very long time. He's very good indeed at teaching people to ride...

[identity profile] allezbleu.livejournal.com 2009-04-26 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
oop norf? surely you jest? were only in the next county!

it seems your teacher has done a fabulous job!

If it's north of Guildford...

[identity profile] allezbleu.livejournal.com 2009-04-27 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
your hair will fall out?

I used to say the same thing about going outside the M25...

I personally sympathize with the stomping part.

I had another embarrassing scene with a particularly hungry pony who required a snack mid-test and decided the flowers at B looked tasty.

And I won't tell you about the tent falling down during our halt/salute and a series of leaps from the ring with an especially lively mare over one (very long summer)

That looks great to me! Nicely ridden!

Thank you! Sounds like you have some great stories from the Dressage front lines!

[identity profile] dancing-crow.livejournal.com 2009-04-27 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
I guess I do! All the mortifying stuff happened during dressage tests - the rest of the stuff that happened on XC or Stadium was life threatening or eliminated me, but wasn't deeply embarrassing.

Your equitation is very good. You look great!

Zorro's ability at stomping things will one day be outstripped by your ability to steer, I'm pretty sure.

[identity profile] glenatron.livejournal.com 2009-04-26 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
That's when I'll start steering towards stompage!

"He's a great horse- you can ride him wherever he wants to go." XD

"Zorro's love of stomping things is stronger than my ability to steer." Hahahahaa! Brilliant! :P

Fantastic position. :)

Thanks, I really like that people are saying that. My position has had a lot of work over the last year and a half.

Haha! Stompage:Steering ratios will surely improve. Looks great!

I's very jealous of your riding position! You must find an old photo of you riding and put it next to one of these and look at the difference!

Congrats! I'm amused by the stomping on things. He and Lizzie would make a great pair! :)

[identity profile] glenatron.livejournal.com 2009-04-27 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

That's a good idea with the pictures actually, just to get a reference on where we're at and where we were at...
