Bad Hair Day

The first nice day of 2007! It took a fortnight, but was well worth the wait. We spent the morning with the ponies, taking advantage of the fact it was finally dry to brush the worst of the mud off and then padding out for a gentle walk up the hill.

We made good progress, but our adventures were curtailed by turning a corner and meeting a group from the herd of Exmoor ponies that the National Trust have grazing on the valley just up the hill from the yard. These are adorable little characters but semi-wild and we really didn't want our ponies getting too playful with them so we turned round and ambled for home.

Walking out up the hill. This doesn't really capture the brightness of the sunshine, or rather the brightness has slightly washed out the colour.

In the forest, the Fluffiest Mane contest was starting to really hot up...

A year ago, even three months ago, it would have been pretty unlikely to have Othello just stand with me in the field when he was free to do otherwise, but today with his new gentler outlook he stayed with me for about five minutes, just sharing a moment.

I just wish the shadow of his mane on my face hadn't made me look bizarrely scarred...

We had our last practice before our next big London show, on Thursday at the 12 Bar in Tin-Pan Alley. It went pretty well, but was a bit sad as well as it marked our last practice with our current drummer, after only a few months. We have a replacement sorted out, but I was just getting to really lock in with Rob's playing and I'm going to miss him.

It was such a beautiful day today... and I slept through it! :-(

Othello looks lovely in pink, you need more pink though. All black(ish) ponies should be done out in lots of pink :)

Good luck at the 12 Bar. I hope all goes well for you.

I actually have a hi-vis pink jacket I use for riding out. It is truly horrendous, but absolutely noticeable.

Well, you're turning into a horse. It was inevitable really.

I don't really have the ears for the job. I can hardly control the angle of mine at all.
