I'm sitting on Zorro near the end of the arena, waiting for a moment while another horse is passing behind us. My hands are resting on the saddle horn, he is standing foursquare and relaxed. The other horse gone I pick my hand up off the saddle horn and it feels as if Zorro wakes up, putting himself in balance up ready to move. As I turn my body he's already following that feel, bringing himself around and back in the direction I'm planning to go.
We'd been doing some work with a couple of ground poles, Small practicing being brave around them ( which isn't really a problem these days ) and Zorro practicing not stomping on them. At the end of the session we stopped and I looped my reins over the saddle horn and left Zorro while I stowed the poles back in the corner of the arena where they are kept. He just stood there, head low and neck relaxed, patiently watching and waiting until I finished and went back to him.
